ABOUT US
The Green Women’s Association is the women’s association of the political party known as the Green League of Finland. We are a feministic organisation. Our aim is a truly equal society with shared responsibilities and rights between women and men. We want to build a world where women and men, girls and boys are no longer restricted by stereo-typical views of gender.
The Green Women’s Association has local, national and international activities.
On the local level we provide both non-material and material support for green women who are, or aim to be, members of municipial councils. We assist the financing of local functions and training schemes.
On the national level we influence decision makers by giving out statements and publishing our stands on issues of importance to us, by organising seminars and educational functions and by belonging to various committees promoting equality.
A signifcant part of our international activity is funnelled through the Finnish Network of Women’s Organisations (NYTKIS), of which we are member organisation. We participate in various meetings, at the Nordic, EU and UN levels, dealing with the position of women. We are a member organisation of UNIFEM (United Nations Development Fund for Women).
